Meet Ry Keenan
My mission is to create a safe, honest, and open space for my clients. I strive to be a genuine and authentic presence in their lives. I seek to increase feelings of confidence in my clients, and hope to help them see themselves as full and unique beings worthy of living the best lives they can. Within the therapeutic process, I believe it is important to teach the practices of self-love and self-compassion —ultimately working towards life fulfillment.
Who I help?
I work with a wide variety of clients from all walks of life. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, substance use, and OCD. I have special training in the treatment of PTSD, and find this type of client work to be the most rewarding. I love to see the transformation, both psychological and physical, in my clients as they learn how to overcome the debilitating symptoms of PTSD. I also have a special interest in helping people of the LGBTQIA+ population. My main goal is to help you feel more comfortable in your life and find happiness you didn't know was possible.
What can You Expect?
While working with me you can expect a welcoming space safe from judgement and scrutiny. One of the cornerstones of my theoretical orientation is congruence. This means that I am open about my own emotions as they come up in sessions so that you see me as a real person rather than as an authority. Laughter and tears should be expected and are encouraged as we work our way through the complex emotions that come from being a person living in the world. Therapy is a process and sometimes it can be a messy and painful one, but I will work with you to help you learn how to weather the storm and come out the other side as a more complete version of yourself.
When I am not at AMW then you will find me
Snowboarding (though I’m terrible), playing video games, traveling, and taking my two white shepherds on walks.
